Day 243: Sigh

After a rough morning for Daniel at church he didn't even make it home before falling asleep. When he got up from nap Davey took him out for some quality daddy son time. They went to run some errands and get ice cream, Daniels favorite food! When he only wanted 3 bites Davey knew something was wrong. D has a fever... No other symptoms but this does explain why he was in a mood all morning. Thankfully he is drinking plenty and we don't have school tomorrow so he has an extra day to recover.

Meanwhile Micah went shopping in the pantry.

Day 242: Partying with Daniel

Daniel and I went to our friend Ashlyn's birthday party tonight. It was at the spray-grounds about an hour from us. He had lots of fun especially when Uncle Steven got there and started playing in the water with him and the other kids!

The birthday girl!

Pinata time!

 Happy 3rd birthday sweet Ashlyn!

Day 241: Rough Day=Quality Family Time

Daniel had a really rough day today. I won't get in to details but lets just say, with this being the 3rd day of school and having a substitute, during an already rough transition, he didn't make the best choices. It does not set a good president for the rest of the school year. sigh.

After a rough day there is nothing better than alone time or quality time with family. We picked quality family time and headed to the farmers market.

Day 240: Transitioning

2nd day of school down! Daniel did not want to go to school this morning. All he wanted was his daddy. He kept telling me on the way to school how he missed Daddy and wanted to see him not "Fluharty." (He doesn't say "Mrs." it's like they're football buddies or something.) Heart break. At one point I walked by and peeked in his classroom, hoping he wouldn't see me but of course he did right away. As soon as he saw me he got a huge smile, ran to give me a hug, and told me to follow him. He began to walk me out of his classroom like he was ready to go home. He got upset when I told him it wasn't time. That ended my visits to his room for the week. I think he is overly tired and is going to be very ready for a 3 day weekend. Just going to school is a lot of work for a 3 year old. I don't blame him for being so tired after day 2. Here's hoping this transition gets easier.

This book is pictures of a variety of animals and he was pointing at each one calling it the wrong name because he thought it was funny.

Day 239: 1st Day of School

Not only was it my 1st day back teaching 2nd grade, it was this little cutie's first day of Pre-K3! Where did the time go. He's not supposed to be old enough to wear this shirt.

Ready for our 1st day!

Daniel's awesome teacher and my good friend Mrs. Fluharty.

Thank you Heather! This definitely helped me get through the day!

My friend wanted me to title this post "TIRED." It probably would have been a good title for it too. The 1st day is always so exhausting just getting back in to the routine. My feet forgot how to withstand walking and standing that much. I was thankful to come home to Davey already in the process of making dinner so I didn't have to. Only 2 more days then a 3 day weekend!

Day 238: Watermelon Juice

Daniel had some watermelon this evening and wanted to drink the juice off of his plate. To save his clothes and the table cloth, I poured it in my empty cup. Then Davey poured the juice from the big bowl in too. Daniel was super excited. They need to bottle this stuff. There's clearly a market for it!

Today was a long day with a student/teacher meet and greet and lots of trying to get ready for the 1st day of school tomorrow morning. I am beat. I was very happy to get home and just relax with the family this evening.

Day 237: Selfie

This is my post-shower, no make-up, nothing else to write about selfie. Enjoy.

Day 236: Watermelon

One of the things we love most about summer is having watermelon  in the house all of the time. We tend to store it in this metal bowl. If Micah sees it, even if it's empty, he starts getting excited and wants some immediately. Nothing can come between him and his watermelon.

And here are 2 banners I made for my classroom thanks to The Clutter-Free Classroom on TPT.

Day 235

Last night Micah must have missed us greatly because he was up half of the night crying and then woke up for good around 5. Thankfully Davey, being the wonderful husband and father he is, let me go back to sleep and entertained the little one. Needless to say it ended up being a lazy day for me and the boys.

I mentioned the other day about Micah's infatuation with light switches. This morning, while Davey was out running errands, he brought home a new "toy" for the Mikester.

Day 234: Birthday Day Party and Tired Boys

Tonight we went to my niece Charlie's 4th birthday party. Daniel, of course is super excited at any chance to go to a birthday party. And he thinks he's going to have another one soon. Sorry buddy you have 10 more months. She had a Pirate and Princess themed party with cute piratey bandana's and eye patches for the boys to wear and eye liner to draw on pirate mustaches.  My boys were not a fan of any of it. They are just so tired from the new schedule that nothing was going to engage them in the fun.

My mom made the cake and cupcakes. She put marshmallow fluff in the pirate cupcake icing. YUM!

Pretty Pretty Princesses

Pirate Elijah

Daniel getting his mustache drawn on only to turn around and wipe it completely off.

Pirate Micah. Daniel refused to wear his bandana and eye patch. I forced Micah to for a picture.

He was not happy about that. Hence neither of my children will appear in the pirate princess group shot.

No words

 Me and my...princess??

Birthday girl ready for some cake!

Goofy boys!

YUM

We had fun but left before the festivities were over because both boys were so very ready for bed.

Happy 4th Birthday Charlotte!

Day 233: Reading with Daniel

Micah went to bed early tonight. The poor thing was so tired. He's clearly adjusting to our new schedule. Here's hoping he sleeps well and doesn't get up too early tomorrow. Since he went to bed, it gave me a little one-on-one reading time with Daniel this evening. He loves "Monkey George."

Day 232: Back to the Grindstone

I went back to work today. It's always difficult to hear that alarm ringing before the sun is up for the first time all summer. Davey makes it easy for me in the morning though so I really can't complain. It was actually a good day. It was especially nice to see friends and colleagues and connect after some time apart. I am blessed to work with some great people who are not just colleagues but sisters (and brothers) in Christ.

This year I am moving back to 2nd grade after 3 years in preschool. I am ready for the move since I love that age group but it is going to be a bit of a change after just beginning to get my grove in preschool. When I walked in to my classroom to start setting up, I just stared at it. HA! Thankfully tomorrow is our major room time day. I'll get something done then.

When I got home I pulled out my little laminator. I love this thing! I haven't used it for much yet and I can't do large items with it, but it beats waiting in line at school for some of my stuff. And I have thicker laminating paper than we use at school which is great for the things I want to keep extra nice.

And then there's the Mikester who is obsessed with flipping light switches right now. He will stand under light switches and cry until someone picks him up and lets him flip. I started to teach him how to say please when he wants them. When he says please he gets this little giggle of relief because he knows I'm going to pick him up. This was us on our way to bed. He just had to stop on the way for some light switch flipping fun.

Day 231: Last Day of Summer Break

Today was my last day before heading back to school. It has been nice pretending to be a stay at home mom this summer. It definitely is my favorite of my 2 jobs. (And I have 2 pretty great jobs!)
I tried to make the most of the day with the boys. This morning we went to the playground for a little while. We saw all of the local county school kids waiting for the bus, thankful we have another week before school actually starts.
After the playground, we stopped by the store for some butter and came home to make chocolate chip cookies. Of course, after making the cookies, I checked my work email to see a sign up sheet for a smoothie bar on Friday to help get a healthy start to the school year. haha! I'm all about eating healthily and am actually excited about the smoothie bar but sometimes you just gotta have some cookies!

Day 230: Bubble Bath

This morning, I was sitting at the table and I smelled a little stinker. When I looked not only was Micah poopy he had shared some of it with our carpet and the little kid table in our kitchen. GAG! Bath time was necessary! Daniel, of course, wanted in too. Then, later in the evening he brought me a book that looked dirty...yeah, he had smeared that too. GAG again! I'm getting sick just thinking about it. I know it wasn't as messy as some stories I have heard from other moms but still. GAG!

Day 229: Pantless Sunday

This morning Daniel had a bathroom accident in nursery at church and while we had extra clean undies for him, we had no spare pants... It was kind of funny to see all of the looks as my 3 year old ran around after church with a dress shirt and no pants. Sadly I have no pictures of that.

Instead I have one of this cutie. He is teething right now. I'm hoping that's why he's been waking up every night for the last few weeks. Thankfully he slept well last night. Here's hoping those teeth come through soon so the crankiness and sleeplessness stops!

Day 228: Pool Party Fun

This afternoon we went to our friend Erin's house for an annual pool party. I never got completely in because Micah got out every 2 minutes. After playing in the pool for a little while, we ate and played some games. Davey took the boys home so I could stay a little longer (4 hrs later...). I put Jamberry nails on Jenn and we played games and had sundaes. Doesn't get much better than that!

There is just something so sweet about watching the daddy's play with the kids. Love it.
