Day 273: Getting Back to Normal

Davey and I are feeling much better today,  thankfully.  He was able to go to work today. I took off and am glad I did because until after nap time I felt weak and lightheaded all day.

On a positive note, today is the first time I actually saw my belly move! It was baby's strongest kick yet. It only happened once and of course Davey was at work. Still it's exciting. I don't care how many pregnancy's I go through, I that feeling will ever get old.

Reading with daddy. When one gets a book the other gets jealous. Micah thinks anyone reading should be reading to him. So, while Daniel was off getting a book for Daddy to read, Micah snuck in for a quick turn.

Day 272: My Glorious Life

I started out this morning not feeling well. I chalked it up to pregnancy and went to work anyway. By the time I got to school I was beginning to think it was more than pregnancy. I asked for a sub to be found and left an hour after school started. I began thinking it was something I ate yesterday but when Davey arrived home around 1 feeling just as sick I realized it really is just some stomach bug.

Thankfully my mom was willing to take the boys for  me today so I could go home and rest. I slept most of the day which I wouldn't have been able to do if they were home.

Considering this is the only thing I can sort of stomach today, I will be staying home tomorrow too. Praying I feel a bit better since I don't have the option with the boys that I had today.

Day 271: Spidey

When Davey and I were in South Carolina last week we stopped at Walmart for a few things. While walking around I saw this Spider Man costume and immediately thought of Daniel. He is all about Spidey right now. When we brought it home he wasn't as excited about it as we expected.
Then this evening Davey let him watch some netflix on the iPad and, of course, he chose Spider Man. After watching for a few minutes he ran to me asking for his "spider man present" so he could wear it while watching his show.

Day 270: Anderson's!

Tonight we had the Anderson family (and Jase) over for dinner. Success was in satisfying 5 teen age boys appetites! And they successfully entertained my boys for the remainder of the evening so we could enjoy time talking with John and Alfi. Such a fun night. We are so blessed to have the ability and opportunity to have friends over for sweet fellowship.

Micah stole Sloan's hat and wouldn't give it back. He was running away from him saying "no. mine."

Day 269: Mom's Night Out!

Tonight I went to a Mom's Night Out at a friends house to watch the movie Mom's Night Out. Such a fun movie. If you haven't seen it, and you're a mom, you need to! It had a great message, a few tears (for me) and lots of laughter.

I am thankful to my husband for staying home with the boys and giving me the opportunity to get out. It's always good to be "off duty" once in a while to recharge and spend time with other moms.

And Davey bought a new ladder today that Micah desperately wanted to climb on.

Day 267: After School

Nearly the moment the boys come in from school, their clothes come off. Since Daniel had a great day with no reports of hitting or telling his teacher no...he got to use Daddy's iPad. Watching Netflix on the iPad is somehow way more special than on the TV. Thankfully, for us, it's special enough to use as leverage for a good day of school!
Not only did Daniel have a good day at school he actually cooperated and learned his Awana bible verse for last week AND this week in about 20 minutes. Up until tonight he would act like a 3 year old boy and when we would try to work with him he wouldn't cooperate or try to repeat after us. Tonight Davey taught him the verse by song and he got it nearly the 3rd time. YAY!

Cooperation, not hitting (at least not that I know of today), listening to his teacher, not crying on the way in to school. - I am not sure what is happening to my son but I think it had something to do with Grandma's visit this weekend topped with a better understanding of why his behavior is not acceptable because he's a whole new child! Talk about a weight off of my shoulders. I know he won't always have such great days but it's nice to see progress!

This afternoon, we had our deck door opened for some fresh cool air.  Micah gets super excited when he can freely go out on the deck and very upset when the door closes. It started drizzling so he stood in the doorway, thought about it, and headed outside anyway. He was not ready to come inside when it when it was time to get ready for church.

Day 266: Cuddle Bug

Shhhhh...Don't tell him he's cuddling or he might get up.

Day 265: Content

This little man is perfectly content playing outside alone. Daniel had a good day at school so he was taking a turn on the iPad, leaving Mikie to play with out fear of toys being taken.

Today was the first day that Daniel actually went happily to his classroom and greeted teachers in the hall on his way in. A stark contrast to the his normal being forced in to the room kicking and screaming. Let me just say that my day started off so much better than it has any day since school started! We are still taking it one day at a time but this is definitely progress!

Day 264: Home Again

We missed these two! Though it was nice to travel childless for a weekend we wouldn't trade that freedom for the joy these two bring us.

And an extra thank you to my mother-in-law Marie for coming down from PA to take care of they boys for the weekend!

Day 263: Hanley Wedding!

Today we had the privilege of going to our friend Christian's wedding down in Charleston.
We left last night, stopped in North Carolina, and headed the rest of the way this morning.

South of the Border!!! These signs bring back childhood memories of traveling to Florida to visit my grandparents. Too bad the town is actually pretty dead.

Wedding time!

1st Dance

A decent picture on the 3rd try.

Us with the Bride and Groom! Congrats you two!

Davey, Christian, and Brian. These three...

Davey's Note -- Despite the fact that Christian hates the sort of thing I'm about to do, here goes.  These two guys were such an encouragement to me during a rough patch almost five years ago.  Although we were at each other's throats at times, I'm thankful I still call Christian my friend.  It's because of him that I started going to church at Grace, and so really it's because of him that I met and married Laura!

We took a long road trip to the very top of Maine for Brian's wedding, and he was there the following week for my own wedding.  Although he's been down here in South Carolina the past couple years, I'm thankful for our continued friendship, and that Laura and I were able to come down to celebrate with him and Stephanie today.  Here we were three wives and a few pounds lighter...

Just don't ask him to chauffeur from the church to the reception site.  He doesn't always remember to fill up with gas...

May God bless you guys on your new life together.  We'd love the honor of hosting you guys whenever you come up our way!

Day 262: See Ya!

Davey and I are headed on a road trip to South Carolina for a friends wedding this weekend. The best part is we are going (nearly) childless! Grandma Ermold came to visit and take care of the stinkers. We will be leaving soon after I post and I don't think they even care! Have a good weekend boys!

Day 261: Where's Daddy?

This is the boys' favorite game. (Don't mind my half dressed children)

Daniel's favorite part is climbing on daddy covered in the sheet.

Micah's favorite part is finding his face.

I found him!!!

We love our daddy!

Day 259: On the Phone

The boys talked with Grandma Ermold on the phone this evening. Before I got the camera out, Micah kept looking on each side of the phone to try and fine the face that went with the voice. It was pretty cute. And as Grandma asked him questions he would always answer with "no." Ha! He's such a good conversationalist.

Day 258: Be You Bravely

Tonight was our first MOPS meeting of the year. I am very excited about our theme this year. It's "Be You Bravely" We are begining to explore how we can be the women God created us to be-Bravely! Each of our tables is named after a brave women in the bible. I thought that was a wonderful idea because where else should we look to see how we, as women, should be living our lives but to the bible.

Tonight our speaker (Emily) gave a devotional about finding our God-given strengths/talents and using them for His glory. In our table discussions we had the opportunity to talk about our strengths. It was incredible how many of us, myself included, had a hard time stating our personal strengths. This is something I will be reflecting on a lot in the next weeks. I think it would be a lot easier to identify my strengths if I didn't constantly compare myself to those I think have a better talent in those areas. Instead I need work harder at looking to my creator and seeing how I've been uniquely made to glorify him through the strengths and talents He gave me.

Day 257: 30 and 31

Today I had the privilege of being part of my church's 30 year anniversary celebration. Not only has it been 30 years since our church was founded but this marked 30 years of Pastor Wagner's service to our church as senior pastor. We had a wonderful service followed by a church picnic.

I had the opportunity to sing with my niece Natalie, sister-in-law Amy, and my Mom. What a blessing!

Davey also sang in a quartet put together by our friend Terry with my Dad and brother Timothy.

To top it all off it was my lovely husband's 31st birthday! Happy Birthday David Scott!

Day 256: Ergo Baby!

My new Ergo baby carrier came in the mail this week! I have a Bjorn but it strains my back to wear it for too long and it doesn't have the "back pack" option that the Ergo has for older babies.  I also have a Mobi wrap which I love for when the baby is younger/smaller. Micah didn't care for it after about 6 months. So, when I saw this Ergo on Amazon for sale I couldn't pass it up!

While Davey was out running errands I wanted to take the boys for a walk but he took the van with the stroller in it. So, I decided to figure out how to use the back carry position on the Ergo and see if Micah would like it or not. Since he's always wanting me to give him piggy back rides I was hopeful. My plan was to let Daniel ride his bike while I carried the Mikester.  He not only liked it but fell asleep by the time we reached the board walk. Success! AND my bad back feels none the worse for carrying him in it. YAY! I think I will be using this at our church picnic tomorrow which happens to be right during nap time.

I didn't bring my camera with me so this afternoon I had Davey take one just for the sake of the blog. Don't be fooled by his unhappy look he really did like it.

This evening we also went to a 1st birthday party. Of course I forgot my camera so I got not pictures of the precious event. But the birthday girl was pretty as can be and the theme was Pink Lemonade which I think is just the cutest 1st birthday theme for a little girl! Happy Birthday sweet Kate!
