Day 319: Dinner at the Coleman's!

Tonight we had the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful meal with the Coleman's. This is a family that Davey met while in seminary and Melanie is the one who inspired me to do my 365 blog. (Even though she gave up on hers....)

We had good food and good conversation.  The boys enjoyed desert and the dog. Well, Micah enjoyed the dog. He has zero doggy fears unlike Daniel who takes a little warming up.

Melanie was teaching me how to use some manual features on my camera. She took this pretty picture. The rest I took...they're all grainy and bury. I am attributing it to kids who never stop moving combined with my lack of talent. Mel, You're going to have to share some of the pictures you took tonight so I can update this post with better pictures!

Melanie taking cute pictures of my children.

Davey enjoying conversation and the boys anxiously awaiting desert while playing with cars.

Day 318: The B-I-B-L-E

Micah currently loves the song "The B-I-B-L-E." Daniel also taught him to use our magnets as a microphone.

This picture has awful lighting but he was singing with all his heart I couldn't resist sharing it.
(My camera is great in good lighting but not so great in low light)

After singing he looked on the book shelf for Daniel's bible and wanted to read. I love that he is making the correlation from the song to the actual book.

Day 317: A Fun evening!

Tonight we had my brother James and his family over for dinner. Daniel was so excited. It's been a while since we had some of his cousins over to play. We made crock pot chicken fajitas and apple cobbler. Cobbler has become our go-to desert because it's so easy and so tasty! Of course it must come with a scoop of vanilla ice cream to top it off.

After dinner there was lot's of playing. The favorite game was rough housing with uncle James. Micah looked like he wanted in on the action but wasn't quite sure about it.

It seriously looks like Gabe got hit in the face in this picture but I promise you he did not! (And somehow Natalie escaped the pictures but she was there!)

Then Daniel wanted to read "The Burning Bush" to everyone. Gabe also had a book that he got off of Davey's book shelves. Not sure what it was but he was going to read it to everyone.

We had a really fun night. There's nothing like having some family over for a little food and fellowship!

On a completely different subject, Daniel had a really good day today. We have been doing this sticker chart with him that I made. It has his class rules and a few other things on it. We started last week but it sort of failed us. This week has been much better! Each morning this week I have made an effort to pray with him, not just for him, before we enter the school building. Not every day has been perfect but today was a really good one! On our way home from school,I was telling him how happy his choices had made Davey and I and how happy they made God. (One of his biggest motivations right now is simply making us happy). After telling him that, Daniel wanted me to pray. So, I thanked God for his good choices and how he made us all so happy by using his "looking eyes, quiet mouth, listening ears, helping hands, and walking feet." (these are his classroom rules that we are now using at home to provide consistency.) After I prayed he wanted to pray and this is what he said. "Thank you for a good day! That I was a big boy and used looking eyes, listening ears, helping hands, walking feet, and that it as a great (breat) day! AND that I get stickers on my sticker chart! AMEN!!!"

Tomorrow is another day but tonight I am praising God that Daniel decided to talk to HIM when was rejoicing. I just continue to ask God to draw Daniel nearer to Himself. That Daniel might develop a true, lasting relationship with Him.

Day 316: Joy

This little boy brings so much joy to our lives!

The poor baby is cutting all four of his canines right now. He's been a but fussy especially at night and early morning. And from the looks of these pictures, he's as happy as can be. No amount of teeth cutting will keep this boy down.

Day 314: Moses

Daniel wanted to read "the burning bush" in his bible this evening. Of course, HE wanted to read, not me. So, I asked him questions about the story since I know he learned about it recently in school.

Here is some of our conversation.

Me: Who talked to Moses in the burning bush?
Daniel: God

Daniel, Looking at the picture he saw Moses' staff and asked :Where's the snake?
Me: What turns into a snake?
Daniel: The staff!
Me: Then what happens to the snake?
Daniel: It turns back into a staff!

I love that my son is learning about God's word. He doesn't always understand or even remember everything from the stories, But he's learning!

Mikie decided to join us.

Day 313: Mikie

There is something about this age and this truck. Maybe because it's the perfect height to run around the house with.

He is also determined to use it as a chair and nearly always tips the back and falls out. It doesn't stop him from trying though!
